Mrs. Wava L. White

Wava L. White, 94, of East Peoria passed on at 11:25 AM on Monday, January 28, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by family. She was born on October 25, 1924 in Nind, MO to Ira and Anna (Pitts) Wood. She married Curtis Hill on February 7, 1942 in Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1977. She later married James White on February 14, 1981 in East Peoria who brought so much love and joy to her life. He was taken from her far too soon on February 5, 1995. Wava is survived by her daughter-in-law Diane Hill of East Peoria whose love and support enabled Wava to remain in her home; 2 step-sons Terry (Diane) White of Metamora and Michael (Pam) White of Creve Coeur; 7 grandchildren Melissa (Alex) Finney of Peoria, Crystal Hill of East Peoria, Patricia Hill of Peoria, Bryan Hill of St. Charles, MO, Stacey (Mike) Brown of Riverside, IA, Kimberly Dodd of Creve Coeur and Daniel Hill of O’Fallon, MO; 4 great-grandchildren Victoria Tillery, Max Finney, Jenna Tillery and Emma Finney; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by all of her children Gary Hill, Ronald Hill, Richard Hill and Mary Lou Dodd, 1 granddaughter Helen Hill and 9 siblings. Wava was very devoted to her family and loved visiting with everyone. She loved dancing, especially country western, and bowling with her husband Jim. Wava enjoyed going shopping with her sister, Ruby, and buying the blouse that she just had to have. She also enjoyed playing the piano, attending church, observing the hummingbirds and watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune. Wava loved her sweets – always asking for a little sliver because we don’t need very much. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Creve Coeur for over 60 years. Her faith was very important to her and carried her through the loss of her loved ones. She is rejoicing now that she is with Jesus and reunited with her children and Jim. Service for Wava will be at 11 AM on Friday, February 1, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 444 E. Washington St., East Peoria, with a visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow the service at Fondulac Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Theresa Tracy Strive to Survive, a charity important to Wava.
