Aleene Giebelhausen Geier

Aleene (Giebelhausen) Geier, 91, of East Peoria, passed away at Lutheran Hill Village on July 14, 2021, at 3:30 AM. She was born on March 5, 1930, to Adolf and Gertrude (Schoedel) Giebelhausen in Peoria. She married Daniel Geier on October 28, 1950, at The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria; he preceded her in death in October 2001. Surviving are her 3 sons, Mark Geier of Orlando, FL, along with his wife Sylvia (Stulpin) Geier, Dave Geier of Carlsbad, CA, along with his wife Janet (Howard) Geier, and Tim Geier of Scottsdale, AZ, along with his wife Jeana (Buckley) Geier. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Greg, Peter, Laura, Justin, and Scott; and 5 great grandchildren, Daniel, Wesley, Kelli, Olivia, and William. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Giebelhausen; and her sister, Elva (Giebelhausen) Kowalske. Aleene was a graduate of East Peoria High School Class of 1948. She was a working wife and mother. She worked for the family business, Dan Geier Heating and Air Conditioning, from 1950-1994. She was involved in all aspects of the business, including financial, scheduling, invoicing, and warranty. Aleene was born, raised, and lived her entire life on Springfield Road in East Peoria. Aleene was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria and was actively involved in church activities. Aleene’s family and friends were her priority in life. Aleene was devoted to serving her hometown, including East Peoria Festival of Lights, Eastlight Theater, and East Peoria Home Extension. She was a lifelong member of the East Peoria Women’s Club and enjoyed her pinochle club with her friends and family for many years. She enjoyed taking bus trips with her friends throughout the Midwest and loved the band concerts in Peoria. During her life, she always enjoyed making crafts, including flower arrangements, gingerbread houses, and many others, to support her clubs. She loved her cat, Blue, who kept her company. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM, Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 23, 2021, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria, with an additional 30 minutes of visitation prior to the service at the church.
