Carol J. Bullock

Carol J. Bullock, 87, of East Peoria, peacefully passed away, surrounded by family, on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was born in Pekin on October 15, 1938, to William and Minnie (Albrecht) Meyer. On July 1, 1961, she married David A. Bullock at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Peoria. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage before his death on January 7, 2025. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Lorraine, Sally, Ruth, Kenneth, Bill, Gertrude, and Jim. Carol is survived by her 4 children, Julie (Kevin) Kilian of St. Louis, Mike (Susanne) Bullock of West Chicago, Steve (Kelly) Bullock of Madison, WI, and Ron Bullock of Peoria; 2 sisters, Marie Selk and Eileen (Allen) Hahn; 4 brothers, Paul, Joseph, Lawrence, and Don; 1 sister-in-law, Michelle and 11 grandchildren: Katie, Emily, Megan and John Kilian; Jessica and Daniel Bullock; and Rose, Rachel (Halverson), Ben, Luke and Josh Bullock. Carol will be remembered for her beautiful smile and wonderful laugh. She lit up every room she entered and found or created the fun wherever she went. Her family, friends, and faith were her greatest joys. Carol was full of love and generously shared it as an active member of St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria for 65 years. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved in the prayer and homebound ministries, the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, the Ladies Guild, and Afrishare. She also participated in Cursillo and Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP), attended Bible study, and enjoyed playing Pinochle, Bridge, and Euchre with Dave and their church friends. Beyond her parish, Carol was a member of the East Peoria Women’s Club, delivered Meals on Wheels, and devoted many years to Teens Encounter Christ (TEC). Carol treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. During their younger years, she and Dave hosted an annual “Cousin Camp,” creating summers filled with laughter and adventures. Holidays were especially dear to her, and she delighted in decorating and making each season special for her family. Carol found joy in creating beautiful things. From painting and stained glass to elaborate gingerbread houses, she never met an art or craft she didn’t enjoy or excel at. She also loved playing tennis and golf, cheering faithfully for the St. Louis Cardinals, and, true to her vibrant spirit, wearing “something colorful.” She was deeply grateful for the love and support of her many friends, especially those from TOBY club and those in her church community. The ‘Crazy Ladies’ Prayer Group’ were a lifeline of fun and fellowship that sustained her always. Carol loved being outdoors in her flower garden and cooking for friends. For many years, she convinced Dave to rent space for a vegetable garden along Route 29 to teach her kids the many lessons of farming. You’re invited to honor her memory in these ways, especially by wearing “something colorful” on July 2. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria, with a Prayer Service led by Deacon Mike Linnenbrink (nephew) beginning at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. Monica Catholic Church, with additional visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Fr. Matt Deptula will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
