Charlene J. Aydt

Charlene J. Aydt, 89, of East Peoria, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Snyder Village Home Care in Metamora, with family by her side. She was born on September 2, 1933 in Peoria to Charles C. and Inez L. (Platt) Noe. They preceded her in death. She married Richard W. Aydt on April 11, 1959, in Peoria. They lived in East Peoria for over 50 years. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2010. She is survived by her son Michael (Brenda Guilliams) Aydt of Washington; her daughter, Tamara (Steve) Geier of East Peoria; and three grandchildren, Ashley (Scott) Roth of East Peoria, Emily (Tom) Clark of Washington, and Seth (Morgan) Aydt of Abingdon. She was also Great Grandma (GiGi) to Callen, Cora, and Claire Roth, Savannah Clark, and Mason Aydt. Charlene graduated from Woodruff High School in 1951. After graduation, she worked for the United Fund for 10 years, first as an IBM operator and later as an office manager. She became a stay-at-home mom when her son was born. She was very active in the Lincoln School (District 86) Mother’s Club, was a room mother, volunteered in the school library and wrote the school newsletter. She decorated beautiful cakes for over 40 years and enjoyed the years that she volunteered at East Peoria’s Festival of Lights Sweet Creations. Charlene was happiest when she was with her family. Christmas was her favorite time when her whole family was together. She also enjoyed watching her grandson, Seth, play baseball. Her great grandkids were the greatest joy to her. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria and the St. Monica’s Ladies Guild. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria, with a Prayer Service beginning at 5:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Father John Steffen will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
