Marshall E. Staley

Marshall E. Staley, 78, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2022, at the Villas of Holly Brook in East Peoria. He was born in Ferris, IL on September 28, 1943, to Ralph Uvalde, Sr. and Doris (Kemper) Staley. He married Kasaundra “Kassie” Jackson in East Peoria on December 18, 1965; she preceded him in death on August 11, 2018. Surviving are his children, Shelly (Mike) Keating of Wheaton and Jeff (Patti) Staley of Batavia; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ben, and Colin Keating and Noah, Anna, and Jonah Staley; two brothers, who were his best friends and constant companions, Malcolm (Kathy) Staley of Morton and Ralph Uvalde “Punkie”, Jr. (Patti) Staley of East Peoria, his sister-in-law, Toni (Marty) Peterson and several nieces and nephews whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother, William, a niece, nephew and sister-in-law. Marshall graduated from East Peoria Community High School Class of 1961 and went to work for Caterpillar. He joined the Caterpillar Apprentice Program and retired in management after 40 years with the company. While working at Caterpillar, he attended and graduated from Illinois Central College in 1993. Marshall’s greatest joy in his life was being a grandpa to his six grandchildren. He was an incredible handyman and loved projects with his kids and grandkids. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many vacations with his friends and family. He was a member of the East Peoria First United Methodist Church. He was a passionate reader with Stephen King and Robert Jordan being his favorite authors. Marshall had a quick wit and loved to tell jokes. He also loved camping at his Little John Fishing Club in Victoria, IL and walking with Caterpillar friends at EastSide. Marshall was devoted to those he loved and will be missed terribly by everyone who was lucky enough to be part of his life. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022, at First United Methodist Church of East Peoria, with a Memorial Service following at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Krista Price will officiate. Inurnment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Gary Deiters Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Peoria is assisting the family. Memorial contributions can be made to his church.
