Mrs. Sharon "Sherri" Shaughnessy

EAST PEORIA – Sharon “Sherri” Shaughnessy, 66, of East Peoria, Illinois, passed away at 1:55 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, surrounded in love by family and dear friends. Sherri was born on August 6, 1951, in Morgantown, West Virginia, to Gene and Hellen Earlene (Ellington) Robbins. Sherri was preceded in death by her mother in 2012. Surviving are her husband Tom; her son, Kelly (Jennifer) Shaughnessy of Mapleton, Illinois; her daughter Robyn (Micah) Skaggs of East Peoria, Illinois; and her father Gene (Joyce) Robbins of Creve Coeur, Illinois. She also leaves two grandsons, Ty Shaughnessy and Jack Skaggs; one granddaughter, Jocelyn Skaggs; and many nieces and nephews. Sherri came from a large, loving family, and will be remembered by sisters Phyllis (Yo) Hansen of Indiana; Patricia (Ernie) Cook of Florida; and `Debbie (Tim) Rockwell of Indiana; and brothers Lonnie (Pauletta) Robbins of Marquette Heights, Illinois; and Donald (Susie Stevens) Robbins of Florida. Sherri graduated from Boone High School in Orlando, Florida. She retired from CEFCU after nearly 40 years of service, working most of her career in the Internal Audit Department as a Senior Auditor and key member of the staff. She was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church. Sherri’s husband Tom was her rock and the love of her life. He was her loving care-giver through a long battle with cancer. Sherri was an amazing mother, blessed with wonderful children and grandchildren who were truly the light of her life. Friends will remember Sherri as an angel on earth. She was the kindest person and brought out the best in everyone. She was always quick to help others, even before they realized they needed it. Among her greatest talents were planning and hosting parties, and finding the perfect gift for those she cared about. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 444 E. Washington Street, East Peoria, Illinois. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at 10 a.m. with visitation one half hour prior.
