David K. Hinton

January 17, 1953 - April 12, 2022

David K. Hinton, 69, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at UnityPoint Methodist Hospital in Peoria. He was born in Peoria on January 17, 1953, to Donald and Nora (Jordan) Hinton. He is survived by his two daughters, Angela of Peoria Heights and Stephanie of Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles. David worked for Caterpillar, then went on to work as an over the road truck driver, until retiring. He was incredibly kind and outgoing; he never met a stranger. He had a girlfriend, Sonya and was always a gentleman. He was quick with a laugh and loved a good joke. He had a way of putting anyone at ease. David was a musician and enjoyed playing the guitar and performing. He appreciated music of all genres, but his favorite was 70’s rock. He enjoyed writing and filled notebooks with interesting and amusing short stories and loved reading and watching movies. He liked Nascar and loved working on anything with an engine, particularly old Ford pick-up trucks. It was natural to see him in his old jeans, a t-shirt and his scuffed-up boots, cigarette hanging from his mouth, working on his truck. He was a good old boy. He loved his country, his mom, and his pick-up. Cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be held at a later date. Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
