Delbert "Del" Chilton

Delbert “Del” Chilton, 65, of East Peoria, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at this home. He was born in Peoria on April 8, 1956, to LeRoy and Louise (McMahan) Chilton. He married Julie (Nickrent) Beitz in Nassau, Bahamas on April 28, 2005; she survives. Also surviving are his children, Katy (Josh) Kopaskey of Virginia Beach, VA, Amy (Troy) Bunn of LeRoy, and Dustin Beitz of Bonney Lake, WA; his sister, Anne (Tom) Dooley of O’Fallon, MO; and his 5 grandchildren, Taylor and Ashlynn Kopaskey, Rylee and Baylee Bunn, and Maggie Beitz, who lovingly called him Poppie. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carol Dillard; and his beloved niece, Michelle. Del graduated from Woodruff High School Class of 1974. He began his career at Copy Products Corporation, then later worked at Heyl, Royster Law Firm. He last worked at Caterpillar as an IT program manager. An avid Harley-Davidson fan, Del was a member of Harley Owners Group. He was an amazing dart player, who won the National Dart Association open cricket competition in Las Vegas in 2002 and 301 team competition in 1993. He also enjoyed being a ham radio operator. Del attended Northwoods Community Church in Peoria. His family would like to thank UC Medical Center and his UnityPoint Hospice team for their kind and compassionate care. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Gary Dieters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria, with a Memorial Service following, at 6:00 pm.
