Gerald Ivan Glore Jr.

“Gerry” Gerald Ivan Glore, Jr. rode into the sunset at age 78, on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. He died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his bedside. Born on June 4, 1943, in Peoria to Gerald, Sr. and Grace (Bandy) Glore, Gerry grew up in the Peoria area and over time, eventually moved to the Chicago area to be close to his adult children and grandchildren. Gerry is survived by his two children, Mac-Gerald (Liza) and Trenton (Hui) Glore; his sisters, Marsha Link and Mary Alice (Virgil) Krumholz; his brothers, David (Charlene) and Dennis (Jessica) Glore; and his three grandchildren, Hayley, Zachary, and Max Glore. Gerry graduated from the Spalding Institute of Peoria Class of 1961. He went on to college and earned a master’s degree in School Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He spent most of his working career as an educator and school administrator, serving communities in central and western Illinois, eventually retiring as Superintendent of Rock Falls Elementary. Gerry was a great father raising his two sons. As a dad, he will be remembered working with his sons on car projects, teaching life lessons, going on adventures, and putting the needs of others ahead of his own. He lived for his grandchildren. He always made them laugh and made every effort to be a part of their lives. Gerry was a brother with four other siblings, spending time with them and their spouses. He was a good friend and neighbor and will be remembered as always being cheerful, kind, and considerate to others. In retirement, he was busy with singing, dancing, and gardening. He frequently worked out at the gym and went on long walks at the park. He was active in playing his guitar and singing with his band and choir at the local community center. He sang in choir throughout his life and enjoyed being a member of the Brothers of Harmony singing group. He spent time learning how to make modern music and created his own little studio. He loved American history and had fun discussing politics and philosophy with others. Gerry was loved by his family and all of those that knew him. He will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, with an hour of visitation prior to the service at 10:00 AM. Msgr.
