José Francisco Gómez

José Francisco Gómez, 75, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born in El Salvador on October 8, 1946, to Nicolás Barrera and María Gómez. He married Zoila E. Pineda in El Salvador on October 10, 1992; she survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Marco (Veronica) Campos of Peoria and Francisco (Alexa) Gómez of Edwardsville; his five siblings, Clarita Gómez of El Salvador, Cecilia Barrera of CA, Nelly Gómez of El Salvador, Nicolás Barrera of VA, and Marielos Barrera of El Salvador; and four grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicole, Gianluca, and Giabella. He was preceded in death by his parents. José Francisco was the owner of Alfa Furniture Store in Santa Tecla, El Salvador, before immigrating to America in 2000 to support his family and give them more opportunities. He was very spiritual and adventurous. He enjoyed traveling and seeing new things. He loved his family and was always positive and encouraging to them. A Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services, with a Time of Reflection at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery.
