Mike Chasteen

Mike Chasteen, 63, of Creve Coeur, passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2022, at Tri-Star Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was born in Peoria on January 9, 1959, to Everett and Shirley (Potter) Chasteen. He married Sherri Kavanagh on July 3, 2021, in Creve Coeur; she survives. Also surviving are his parents, of East Peoria; his children, Jennifer Chasteen of Washington, Mike (Leigha) Chasteen Jr. of Peoria, Megan Chasteen of Peoria, and Jeremy (Tammy) Thousand of East Peoria; his siblings, Shirley “Marlene” (Stan) Bieber of Washington, Marsha (Larry Roderick) Chasteen of East Peoria, and Melinda (Jeff) Prowell of San Antonio, TX; and his grandchildren, Colin, Beckham, Rhett and Reid. He was preceded in death by his son, Josh. Mike worked as a semi owner/operator at Mike Chasteen Trucking for 45 years and leased to Kaplan Trucking. Mike loved being a stock car racer, both locally and nationally, as car number C40. He loved his family and took great pride in working hard to provide for them. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at the Itoo Banquet Hall at 4909 W. Farmington Rd in Peoria, IL. from 5-10 p.m., with a Time of Reflection at 6 p.m. Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria is assisting the family.
