Dennis Quitschau

Dennis R. Quitschau, 69, of Peoria Heights, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024. He was born on March 26, 1955, in Chicago, to Wolfgang and Carol (Kohlbach) Quitschau. He married Helen Roedell in 1979, in Peoria, and later married Diane Blake on August 8, 2006, in Sturgis, South Dakota. His time here tragically ended December 5, 2024, when he and his wife, Diane, were called back home together. Known as husband, father, Opa, friend, bike brother, buffet raider, joke master and German folk singer, Dennis was truly the best and those who knew him will never stop missing him. His presence will be missed always. He is survived by his children, Angela Quitschau of Chicago, Joseph Quitschau of O’Fallon, MO, Paul Quitschau of Washington, and Peter Quitschau of Peoria; three stepchildren, Victoria Blake of Grand Prairie, TX, Brandon (Courtney) Blake of Morton, Brittany Blake of Arlington, TX; 11 grandchildren, August and Harper, Evelyn and Isaac, Jalen and Joshua, Jacoby, Addison and Landon, Brence and Brooklyn; one brother, Roy Quitshaw of Chicago; and one niece, Theresa Quitshaw of Chicago. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and one nephew Kurt Quitshaw. Dennis began working in the autobody field, then later, worked for a printing company. He finished his career by owning his own painting business. His many hobbies included working around the house with flowers, different plants, and his koi pond. He was a passionate Chicago sports fan, always cheering on the Bears, Cubs, Bulls and Blackhawks. Dennis loved watching all his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, attending as many as possible. He and Diane enjoyed riding their motorcycles together any chance they could. He had many friends from his time living in Chicago, then later after moving to Peoria. The Memorial Service for Dennis and Diane, together, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
