Jacqueline "Mick" Hagey

Jacqueline “Mick” Hagey, 102, a lifelong resident of East Peoria, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her vacation home in Seminole, Florida, on Sunday, January 19, 2025. She was born in East Peoria on April 22, 1922, to Clarence and Marvel (Dewitt) Wright. She married Gilford Hagey, Jr. in St. Louis on July 19, 1941. They celebrated 71 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harry Smith; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson. She is survived by her children, Buck (Lori) Hagey of Washington and Deborah (Kenny Barth) Hagey of East Peoria; 3 grandchildren, Curt (Polly) Hagey, Jonah Bigelow, and Anita (Brad) Madden; 7 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Mick worked for Caterpillar from 1942-1949, then for Fleming Potter in downtown Peoria. She was an active, witty, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Mick enjoyed life to the fullest and was healthy right up until her final days. She was young at heart and traveled frequently, enjoying her vacation home in Diamond City, AR for 20 years and more recently in Seminole, FL. She loved boating, visiting One Palm Island, and dining on shrimp dinners with a glass of bourbon and 7up. Mick placed great importance on her family and cherished any opportunity to spend time with them. She resided with her daughter, Deborah, for the past 10 years, and they enjoyed many adventures together. She will be dearly missed. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post 2078 and the Daughters of Mokanna Abbas Grotto #49. Her family will celebrate her joyful spirit, lively humor and ever-present warmth, by receiving friends from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the funeral home. Jesse Elford will officiate. Burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
