Linda J. Myers

Linda J. Myers, 69, of Peoria, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born in Abilene, Kansas on October 6, 1955, to Sanford and Esther (Ryder) Enger. She married Steve Myers in Abilene on September 20, 1975. They celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage together; he survives. Also surviving are her 2 sons, Nicholas (Carl Hersom) Myers of Atlantic City, New Jersey and Michael Myers of Dunlap with grandson, Logan; her Mother-in-law, Trudi Myers of Topeka, KS, her sisters-in-law Eveline (Bill) Durham of Washington, IL, Debbie (Mark) Salsbury of Topeka, KS, her brother-in-law Jerry (Teri) Myers of Mansfield, TX and many precious nephews and nieces; her 4 siblings, Melvin (Sherry) Adee, Bruce Enger, Janice (Steve) Dester, and Rhonda Katy, all of Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Carol, Lola, Sandra, and Chris. Linda graduated from Chapman High School in Chapman, Kansas in 1973 and then attended Crums Beauty School in Manhattan, Kansas. She worked as a cosmetologist for Richard Anché in Peoria for about forty years. To know Linda is to love her. For several years she waged a valiant battle against cancer and many other major health issues. Through it all, she never lost her optimism and faith. She was a generous and caring person. Her son shared, Mom threw the best parties, fed everyone until they were bursting, worked insanely hard for her boys. She was a supporter of Nicholas as he pursued his dreams in music and theatre. She was so proud of him and his husband Carl. She was so proud of Michael when he served his country in Iraq – and her pride when he with the 1st Cav completed his Spur Ride. She had a wonderful infectious laughter. Steve was her soulmate for over 50 years! He was a devoted care giver. She and Steve were able to travel, and their last trip was in November, when with Steve’s siblings they went to Paris – London – Normandy – what wonderful memories were made. She would leave you with these thoughts – hold your loves ones close – losing them can happen so quickly – cherish them always. Memorial visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria. An additional visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12 at St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. Father John Steffen will officiate.
