Robert "Bob" Heuermann

Robert “Bob” C. Heuermann, 78, of Washington, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at his home. He was born on October 28, 1944, in Peoria, to Robert, Sr. and Dorothy (Kerr) Heuermann. He married his wife of 59 years, Joanne Hake in Peoria on March 2, 1963; she survives. Also surviving are his children, Deanna “Dee Dee” Wagner of Springfield, Marc (Hayley) Heuermann of Washington, and Todd (Lisa) Heuermann of Waynesville, NC; 14 grandchildren, Rachel Morrison, Brandon Heuermann, Christopher Dickey, Alexandra Anderson, Nicholas Heuermann, Shailey Heuermann, Trey Keeley, Brian Heuermann, Lauren Heuermann, Kaitlyn Keeley, Zachery Heuermann, CiCi Ledford, Luci Heuermann, and Maggie Ledford; and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Judy Cagle; and one son, Scott Heuermann. Bob started his career as a gas/service station owner in Indianapolis, then moved back to Illinois to work for Caterpillar Tractor Co. and teach automotive electronics at Illinois Central College. He worked at CAT for over 30 years, during which time he also served as Assistant Chief of the Rescue Squad and volunteer firefighter for the Northern Tazewell Fire Department. After retiring, he became the Assistant Service Manager at Uftring Chevrolet in Washington. Bob had many hobbies that he enjoyed. He collected narrow gauge Denver and Rio Grande Model Railroad trains, was a master woodworker, avid gun collector, model airplane demo pilot, Labrador enthusiast, and softball coach. He was an extra class ham radio operator N9BBV and volunteer examiner. Bob, who was known as a “grill master”, loved riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his family. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 4-6 p.m. at Gary Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. Please feel free to wear Harley Davidson or other casual attire. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Graffis will officiate. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
