Vicki M. Mallonee

Vicki M. Mallonee, 87, of Galesburg, originally from Ottumwa, Iowa, passed away on April 5, 2025, at Independence Village Senior Living in Peoria, surrounded by her family. Born in Ottumwa on December 27, 1937, to Walter and Goldie (Vantine) Winningham, Vicki married the love of her life, Gary N. Mallonee, on June 1, 1958. They shared 66 loving years together; he survives. Also surviving are 2 children, Renee (Rod) Dixon of Washington, IL and Jeff Mallonee of Davenport, IA; 5 grandchildren, Jena (Ross) Green, Ashley (Mike Lala) Epping, Tyler Mallonee, Alex (Bailey) Mallonee, and Spencer (Noelle) Mallonee; 5 great grandchildren, Brynley and Brecklyn Green and Leo, Calvin, and Romey Mallonee; and her beloved fur baby, Ginger. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Alice “Pat” Winningham; and her five sisters, Ethel “Jeri” Bailey, Dorothy Thrasher, Hazel “Wally” Shultz, Darlene Selix, and Polly Wells. Vicki dedicated over 35 years of service to Bookin Jewelry Co. in Ottumwa, where she was known for her exceptional customer service. She was the shining diamond of Bookin’s. Affectionately known as “Gonnie” by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Vicki cherished being a grandma and enjoyed supporting them in their many activities. She loved her grandkids so much and referred to them as “JATAS 5.” She enjoyed baking and was an avid Quad City Mallards, Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Vicki’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Shawtae Williams, her caregiver, and Transitions Hospice who cared so deeply for her. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with a Time of Reflection at 3:30 p.m. Private burial will be in Chillicothe, IA at a later date.
